Program Information
Chinook welcomes individual International students to enrol in our Fall/Winter High School Upgrading program. At Chinook, you may:
- Obtain Alberta high school credits
- Prepare for your post-secondary education
- Study with highly qualified teachers who will help you meet your academic goals

Eligibility
International students are required to have adequate English language proficiency.
Along with your English benchmark, we require a copy of your home country transcripts. Your transcripts and benchmark will be reviewed by an academic advisor. If Chinook Learning Services is able to offer the appropriate courses for you we will issue a Letter of Acceptance upon receipt of a registration form and payment of tuition fees in full. It is the student's responsibility to apply for their Study Permit. A valid Study Permit must be provided prior to the beginning of the semester.
Location
Chinook Learning Services currently offers High School Upgrading courses at Forest Lawn, James Fowler, and Lord Shaughnessy High Schools. Beginning 2026, in the second semester of the school year, all in-person High School Upgrading courses will be relocated downtown to 332 - 6 Ave SE, Calgary, AB (Bow Valley College downtown campus building). Health Insurance
All international students are required to have complete health insurance for the duration of their studies. Health insurance is extra and can be purchased through Chinook Learning Services. Proof of health insurance must be shown at the time of registration.
