Core Course
In this course, students explore the overlapping Mathematics 20-1 and Mathematics 20-2 outcomes before deciding which course will best meet their needs. Career goals and keeping doors open to a broad future are one-half of the equation. The other half involves the student’s relationship with the subject. Are they confident in their algebra skills? Have they struggled in math and/or found it challenging? These questions are important and if a student would be more successful by completing Mathematics 20-2 first, then that is what they should do. [Optional streams are Mathematics 20-2, Mathematics 30-2, Mathematics 30-1 OR Mathematics 20-2, Mathematics 20-1, Mathematics 30-1/30-2]
Once decided, students will continue to work with the same class and teacher but with differentiated expectations. A highly motivated student could even complete the outcomes for both courses, earning double the credits!
