All applicants must submit the High School Upgrading Student Registration Form (PDF) as part of the Application Process. The form will be made available during application periods.
Canadian Citizen
One of the following legal documents must be presented each term before registration can be confirmed.
- Adoption Certificate
- Canadian Birth Certificate
- Canadian Citizenship Card
- Canadian Citizenship Certificate (pages 1 & 2)
- Canadian Passport
- Certificate of Indian Status
Permanent Resident
One of the following legal documents must be presented each term before registration can be confirmed.
- Confirmation of Permanent Residence
- Permanent Resident Card (front & back)
Refugee Protection Claimant/Convention Refugee/Protected Person
All of the following legal documents must be presented each term before registration can be confirmed.
- Students 19 Years Old or Younger as of September 1, 2026
- Must contact the CBE Welcome Centre at 403-817-7789 or by email at welcome@cbe.ab.ca for a registration appointment.
- Students 20 years Old or Older as of September 1, 2026
- Refugee Protection Claimant Document or Student’s Notice of Decision, Study Permit or Work Permit that authorizes attending secondary studies.
Other Temporary Residents
All of the following legal documents must be presented each term before registration can be confirmed.
- Students 19 Years Old or Younger as of September 1, 2026

- Alberta Health Care Card
- Proof of Address
