Overview

All students registered in Biology 30, Chemistry 30, English Language Arts 30-1, English Language Arts 30-2, Mathematics 30-1, Mathematics 30-2, Physics 30, Science 30, Social Studies 30-1 and Social Studies 30-2 are required to write a Diploma Exam in order to receive credits and a final mark.

• myPass.alberta.ca (Alberta Education) is a self-service website for Alberta high school students to register to write a diploma exam, view and print diploma exam results, order high school transcripts, and more.

Students must review Approved Calculators Only for Mathematics and Science Diploma Exams and Approved Materials for Part A Diploma Exams for English Language Arts and Social Studies.

January 2027 Diploma Exams

Only Students Registered Can Write a Diploma Exam

First-time writers are automatically registered for Diploma Exams. Students who want to write an exam in January need to register via myPass.alberta.ca (Alberta Education). If the student was a first time writer from an earlier exam session (eg. June 2026), there will be no payment required. Students need to inform administration of their intention to write to ensure there is adequate space and resources.

Advanced self-registration is required for rewriters and most temporary residents, including holders of a Study Permit, Work Permit, Convention Refugee status, or those who are Refugee Claimants. ALL students must confirm their registration status at myPass.alberta.ca (Alberta Education) before the registration deadline of October 30, 2026, to ensure a seat is available. Payment is required at the time of registration. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please contact Chinook's Downtown Office at 403-817-3340. Only current (2026-2027 school year) Chinook students are eligible to write January 2027 Diploma Exams with Chinook.

Diploma Rewrite Fees

Diploma Rewrite Fees are not included in course fees. Alberta Education determines fees for Diploma Exams. All students rewriting a Diploma Exam, whether they are in a current class or not, must register and pay online for each exam. Students who do not register and pay the Diploma Rewrite Fee will not have a seat assigned and will not have an exam available to write. Please note that if more than two years has passed since the student’s previous attempt to write the exam, the rewrite fee will not be charged.

For Students Not Attending Chinook

Students not attending Chinook who wish to write a January 2027 Diploma Exam should register at the Calgary Provincial Writing Centre through myPass.alberta.ca (Alberta Education).
