In Order to Participate
Student registration must be approved prior to accumulating high school credits.
- Students must be a minimum of 15 years old.
- Students must be currently enrolled in high school, or eligible to enrol in high school upgrading.
- Students must successfully complete the prerequisite HCS3000 (Workplace Safety Systems) course before hours can be counted for any Off-Campus program.
- Fall/Winter Off-Campus: Students who do not already have credit for HCS3000 will be given the opportunity to complete it.
- Summer Off-Campus: Students must complete HCS3000 through their home high school before registering (see your High School Guidance counsellor if required).
- Students must have a job or volunteer position acceptable to Chinook before applying. To earn credits, students must:
- Work or volunteer a minimum of 75 hours to receive high school Work Experience credits (1 credit for every 25 hours).
- Work a minimum of 125 hours to receive high school Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP) credits (Summer Off-Campus only).
- Students can only accumulate hours for high school credit between 6:00 AM - 12:01 AM.
- Students must attend a Mandatory Online Work Experience Orientation before enrollment is confirmed.
- Students 20 years of age or older (as of September 1 of the current school year) must have attended a CBE school
in the current school year to qualify for Summer Off-Campus.
- Summer Work Experience students in the five-week program are expected to be present and employed for the duration of the course. Students planning a holiday during this time do not qualify to register.
Course Fees
Course fees apply to students 20 years of age or older (as of September 1 of the current school year), International Students, and some temporary residents.
