Earn High School Credits for On-the-Job Experience

summer off-campusAlberta Education recognizes the value of learning in a work setting where employability skills develop as part of job exploration and job training programs.

Students interested in Work Experience 15-25-35, Internship, Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP) or Skilled Trades Programs have the opportunity to earn high school credit during their summer employment.

Before Applying

Non-CBE students must also complete the Chinook Off-Campus Student Registration Form (PDF)

Work Experience Program

July 2 - August 6, 2026

How to Apply

Students must complete the Chinook Off-Campus Work Experience Application Package (pdf) only after they have a job placement. Deadline is: Friday, June 12, 2026.

Internship, Registered Apprenticeship (RAP), or Skilled Trades Programs

May 1 - August 21, 2026 (flexible start dates up to July 15, 2026)

How to Apply

Students must complete the Chinook Off-Campus Internship, RAP, or Skilled Trades Programs Application Package (pdf) only after they have a job placement with a start date before Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

Students with their own job placement are encouraged to apply with CAREERS - Get an Internship (careersnextgen.ca).

Students interested in becoming a registered apprentice in a certified trade must first complete 125 hours in work experience. Application for apprenticeship is made through Apprenticeship and Industry Trades (AIT) in collaboration with the employer.
