Application Process

Step 1: Confirm you are taking the required pre-requisite courses for your chosen program/school.
Step 2: Verify the application start and end deadline dates. Most schools offer online applications that will cost $35 - $100 per application.
Important: You do not have to wait for your final marks to be available before applying. For application start and end dates go to Application and Award Deadlines.
Step 3: Consider applying to several schools in case you are not admitted into your first choice.
Step 4: If required, supply the schools with a mid-term (or interim) mark. Mid-term marks can be picked up in Student Services. Interim marks can be picked up from your teacher.
Step 5: Order “final” official transcripts to be sent to your chosen school directly from Alberta Education (external link).
Important: If you know what school you will be attending, send this form into Alberta Education as quickly as possible. Time codes on the application will identify when you want your final marks to be sent to your chosen institute.
Step 6: Many schools allow you to monitor your application online to verify that you have provided all the necessary information.
Step 7: If you receive a “conditional acceptance” letter, most schools require a deposit in order to hold your seat.
Important: A conditional acceptance letter only means you were assigned a space in your chosen program. You will still need to meet specific admission criteria before being officially accepted.
Step 8: Research the Scholarships and Awards page - you may be eligible for. Not all scholarships are based on academic standing, so make sure you research thoroughly.
Step 9: Attend post secondary information sessions that Student Services hosts during October/November & March/April.
Important: Applicants who are 21 years of age or older can gain acceptance into most post-secondary programs without presenting a high school diploma. However, you will still need to present the mandatory pre-requisites for your faculty of choice.
