Overview
The LINC Program (Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada) is funded
by Citizenship
and Immigration Canada (an external link) and provides FREE
basic language instruction to adult immigrants. The curriculum includes
information that teaches newcomers about the Canadian way of life and
helps them integrate into Canadian society. For more information about

Adult LINC Program
- ESL Classes to improve reading, grammar, writing, listening and speaking
skills
- Full or part-time daytime classes
- 5 full-time classes from LINC 2 to graduation (benchmarks 6/6 for
listening and speaking and 5/5 for reading and writing)
- Free child minding service while parents study at northwest location
- Full-time classes at 223 - 18 Avenue NW or 2519 Richmond Road SW
- Part-time mornings classes at 3812 Marbank Drive NE
- Part-time evening classes at 130 - 28 Ave NE
Young Adult LINC Program
- Students 18 to 24-years-old learn English together
- Reading, writing, grammar, listening and speaking as well as English
for mathematics and computers
- Employment preparation support
- Full-time classes held at the Calgary Achievement Centre for Youth
at a downtown location (315 – 10 Avenue SE)
ILVARC
All LINC clients are referred by the Immigrant Language and Assessment
Referral Centre (ILVARC), a service of the Calgary
Immigrant Aid Society (an external link to their main website). For
