Ana Engel
Ana has degree with a major in Organizational Psychology and minor in Educational Psychology. She worked in Colombia as an HR Generalist for an American multinational medical manufacturing company. In the five years she was in the position, she started to develop a passion for Training and Development. With family, she opened a training and development consulting company delivering courses and training consultants in Colombia, Peru and Miami. As her passion is sharing and teaching, she also worked as a private English instructor to adults and volunteered assisting illiterate adults and children to improve their reading and writing skills.
In Canada, she was employed as a French education assistant within the Calgary Board of Education and started teaching Spanish and business courses with Chinook Learning Services in 2002. She left the CBE for a short time to work in HR and with an immigrant settlement agency where she assisted immigrants with their language skills and oriented them to the appropriate ESL classes to start their new life in Canada. After a while, she decided to return to CBE as she missed the learning environment. She is now a Career Practitioner in a CBE high school where she works assisting students with career choices and job searches. In the evenings, she teaches Spanish to adults with Chinook Learning Services.
Ana is currently completing a major in Modern Languages and hopes to carry on and apply for a Bachelor of Education.
She loves working with people, and helping them to develop their new language skills. This connection with people and feeling helpful re-energizes her. Her favourite hobby is going away with her family and exploring nature.
