Course Description

This course is designed for the novice or for those wishing to refresh their language skills. Students participate through speaking, listening and writing in a variety of activities.

Textbook: French the Fun and Fast Way , Elizabeth B. Leete, Third Edition.

Participant Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, you will have acquired basic communication skills in French.

Course Content

We tailor our courses to meet individual participants’ needs. Course topics may include, but are not limited to:

• Introducing oneself and initiating basic conversation
• Good manners: saying “Please”, “Thank you” “Excuse me”
• French alphabet and phonetics
• Subject pronouns
• Regular (-er) verbs, Irregular verbs: Avoir, Etre, Aller
• Feminine and Masculine nouns
• Nouns in singular and plural form
• Forming Questions, asking and giving directions, negation
• Vocabulary related to: colors, the family, the home, the hotel, telling time, numbers 0-100, weather, the calendar, food, clothing, parts of the body
• Prepositions
• Adverbs of time
• Introduction to Adjectives
• Definite Indefinite and Possessive Articles
