Writing with Humour
1 or 2 Classes - Fee: $149
Whether you're writing a letter to the editor, your memoirs or fiction, humour is a way to engage your readers while getting your point across. Explore when to use humour, different types of humour, and the styles and techniques of humour writing. Humour is a powerful device when coupled with strong writing skills. Participants will examine examples of humourous writing and discuss what makes them funny. A bibliography of humourous works in different genres will be provided. Participants should bring a short humourous piece they are working on and/or be prepared to do writing exercises in the class. We will explore different techniques of writing with humour by writing and critiquing the short pieces in class.
Instructor: Jan Markley. See Instructor Profile.
