Course Info >> Sewing & Design Courses >> Adult Courses >> Continuing Education >> HomeFashion Design - Pattern Draping9 Classes - Fee: $229 Did you know that draping is one of the oldest garment design techniques? Egyptians were draping garments as far back as 3000 B.C. Inspire your inner fashion designer and create a custom, sleeveless blouse prototype. Using cotton fabric (muslin), drape a loose fitting blouse on a body form. Through designer draping and drafting pattern-making techniques, fashion forward and individualize your blouse by creating collars, yokes and facings. A personal dressform is required for every class. You may register in the Create Your Own Dressform course for a reduced fee or purchase a readymade dressform fitted to your specifications. We provide sewing machines for use in class. You may bring your own sewing machine and manual if it will make you more comfortable. Students should bring their own sewing kit (including needle, thread, tape measure, seam ripper, scissors), pencil/pen, and paper. Bring dressform to every class. You will also need 3 meters of cotton muslin, scissors, dark narrow twill tape, coloured markers or pencil crayons, pen, straight pins (the regular strong ones not the long quilting type), tape measure, notebook, thimble, square ruler (drafting square or omni grid), pattern tracing wheel and paper, calculator, tape, and thimble. Recommended prerequisite: intermediate sewing skills. Instructor: Judy Mahon. See Instructor Profile.
