Fashion Design
26 Classes - Fee: $629
Learn the basic skills to become a designer. You will begin with an accurate set of your body measurements to draft your basic skirt and pants pattern. Then, using your personalized dressform, you will drape your basic fitted bodice. These patterns will become your master patterns from which you will learn how to design garments. Trial garments will be constructed for fitting purposes. Intermediate sewing skills required. This is not a sewing course, but rather a creative design course where several instructors will bring in their expertise. A personalized dressform is required.
We provide sewing machines for use in class. You may bring your own sewing machine and manual if it will make you more comfortable. Students should bring their own sewing kit (including needle, thread, tape measure, seam ripper, scissors), pencil/pen, and paper. Please dress appropriately to take detailed measurements at first class.
Supplies to bring on first night: 1/4" twill tape, scissors, a new measuring tape, coloured marker (medium-fine point), T-pins (strong pins with a T shape, available at craft suppliers), metal thimble, pen and notepaper, approximately $10.00 preferably in change to purchase fabric for the first night.
