Course Description

In this course, put into action the project management (PM) theories that you learned in Project Management - An Overview. Delve deeper into PM subject matter with thoughtful and engaging lessons and activities that will help you kick off your project so it starts strong and stays healthy. Through activities created to teach you to plan the scope of your project, learn to ward off the dreaded scope creep, and learn to create realistic timelines and budgets.

Participant Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the value of PMBOK® and the attributes of a good project manager
  • Understand project baselines regarding scope, schedule and cost
  • Discover high-level requirements, assumptions, constraints and risks
  • Differentiate between project and product scope
  • Create a scope and requirements management plan
  • Prepare requirements documentation
  • Develop a project scope statement
  • Create a work breakdown structure and associated dictionary
  • Validate the scope baseline
  • Understand the schedule management process
  • Illustrate project critical path
  • Manipulate the schedule using float
  • Validate the schedule baseline
  • Understand the cost management process
  • Use three-point, analogous and bottom-up estimating to predict your project costs
  • Discover the overall project cost budget
  • Determine the performance measurement baseline
