 Maria Polyak
Maria has been an instructor with Chinook Learning Services since 1981. She started out subbing in the Auto Upholstery and the Upholstery courses, eventually becoming a co-instructor for both. Maria and Shiraz Dhārsee have been instructing together for about 30 years now. Maria and her late husband also owned and operated an upholstery business in Calgary.
During the day, Maria has been working 21 years in the elementary level as an Education Assistant and as a School Assistant and she truly enjoys working in a field that helps students learn new skills.
Maria says she really enjoys the conversations and camaraderie that happens with the students during courses. Some of them form lasting friendships while some are returning students with new projects to do. They are very appreciative of the guidance they received and very proud to show off the finished projects.
