Candace Prather
Candace is a long time Albertan who studied Fine Art between 1977 and 1986. She received her BFA in Calgary and attended undergraduate and graduate programs at Simon Fraser University and the University of Saskatchewan. Candace has applied her arts training (drawing, dance and photography) in various ways and presently enjoys making and teaching jewelry courses.
Candace is a busy parent who finds time to pursue her love of gemstones, pearls, fine glass and metal. She views jewelry projects as opportunities to merge tactile and visual elements in endlessly unique ways. While maintaining a home jewelry business, she has taught jewelry for over five years and still enjoys discovering new techniques.
Teaching adds another dimension to her creative endeavours and Candace delights in seeing students unlock design skills previously undiscovered. “You know you really are a jewelry maker when you have to find an outfit to match the necklace!”
