Barrie McCombs
Barrie McCombs was a Family and Emergency Room physician for 20 years. He's retired from clinical medicine, and is now Medical Information Service Coordinator for The Alberta Rural Physician Action Plan. This part-time position gives him time to explore his interest in folk music and the fiddle.
He's a true lifelong learner. This year, he and his partner and co-instructor Carole Cormier traveled to Gaelic College in Cape Breton to study fiddle, take beginner bagpipe and Gaelic singing. He regularly attends summer fiddle camps in Saskatchewan and the Foothills Acoustic Music Camp at Kamp Kiwanis near Bragg Creek.
In January 2007, he and Carole traveled to San Miguel de Allende, in the centre of Mexico, to visit friends and take beginner Spanish classes, and since then he's been taking beginner Spanish classes from Chinook.
Barrie has done medical volunteer work on the island of Dominica in the West Indies as well.
