Adult ELL Registration & Fees

Adult ESL Registration

Registration is on-going.

  1. Call 403-777-6330 to make an appointment for free placement test.
  2. Talk to a course advisor to plan your courses.
  3. Get funding information, if needed.

Adult ESL Resident Fees

This program is free of charge for learners eligible for Alberta Government funding. Fees for self-paying residents:

  • Full Time
    20 hours per week for 7 weeks: $1650.00
  • Part Time
    12 hours per week for 7 weeks: $990.00
    8 hours per week for 7 weeks: $660.00
    4 hours per week for 7 weeks: $330.00
  • Textbook Fees
    $110 per term.

Fees are subject to change. A full refund is given if a course is cancelled by Chinook Learning Services. Refunds are not issued once classes have begun or for non-attendance.

LINC Registration

To register for the LINC program, come in person to Office 104, Viscount Bennett Centre (2519 Richmond Road SW, Calgary, Alberta T3E 4M2). Bring the following:

  • Permanent Resident Card or Landing Papers
  • Current LINC Certificate or Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) assessment results from the Immigrant Language & Vocational Assessment Referral Center (ILVARC)

LINC Fees

The LINC program and its child care service are free of charge.

Chinook welcomes individual International Students to study in our Adult ESL, High School Upgrading and Grades 10-12 Summer School programs. Adult ESL students must be 18 years of age or older.

Income Tax Policy for Adult ESL

Students taking Adult ESL courses cannot claim a tuition or education amount for income tax purposes (T2202A). For more information, see Definitions for Education and Textbook Amount under the heading "Post-Secondary School Level" (external link, Canada Revenue Agency).
