Linda Shantz-KeresztesLinda Shantz-Keresztes

Linda Shantz-Keresztes is an education graduate with expertise in school libraries. She holds a Diploma of Education and a Bachelor of Education. In her 30 years of teaching, she has worked with the Calgary Board of Education as a classroom teacher, teacher-librarian and district school library specialist and consultant.

She is an executive member of the Canadian Association for School Libraries, and teacher-librarian consultant for the CBE Wired for Words Online Youth Book Club.

Linda has been teaching in the Library Assistants Program for two years.
She says what she enjoys most about teaching adults is their enthusiasm for lifelong learning. “My focus for adult learners is to equip them with effective inquiry skills and strategies to empower their future career goals.”

She is pleased that Chinook Learning Services recognizes and supports the need for trained school librarians, which was initiated by her work on the provincial project: “Revitalizing School Libraries: Building Information Literate Learning Communities.”

Linda’s personal passion for learning includes enjoyment of travel, reading, drama, music and the oral tradition of storytelling. She is a member of the provincial storytelling guild called T.A.L.E.S. (The Alberta League for Encouraging Storytelling).
